(American, b. 1961)
Kathleen Hope was born in Duluth, Minnesota but currently resides in Fountain Hills, Arizona. She began her career in the arts in the late eighties as a color consultant for architectural spaces, both interior and exterior. Hope continued her studies in Color Psychology and Environmental Design. This expertise in color application led her to pursue painting. She began as an oil painter, but after ten years started to pursue more sculptural materials to express herself. Hope developed her own mixes with cement, each with its own special ingredients and purpose. These combinations have many diverse materials within, such as dried pigment, plaster, and marble dust. The end result is a tactile, smooth relief that looks polished, refined and waxed.
