Anthony Liggins Biography

(American, b. 1965)

Anthony Liggins is a Atlanta-Miami based artist with global reach who is looking to expand his concept. He has been creating exquisite pieces of art for over 12 years and has held twelve major group museum showings in the US and Europe at some of the most highly regarded and sought after venues: the Smithsonian Institute, Oakland Museum, Longmont Museum, Michener Art Museum, and the Museo Americano. Anthony Liggins works, an extension of the man himself, can be found in major galleries internationally: Istanbul, Philadelphia, South of France, Bogota, Colombia, and Atlanta. His pieces are present in 700 public and private collections around the world and have been featured and published in publications such as: Con de Nast, Ocean Drive Magazine, Interview Magazine, Nice-Marti in France, Philadelphia Inquire, Miami Home and Décor, Florida Design Magazine, The Atlantan Magazine, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Le Petit Nicois Journal in Ville Franche, France, and many more.

He believes in the potential for his art to act as an unspoken language that connects people together. The paintings represent a spiritual journey of the enlightened mind, heart and spirit. Liggins finds joy and freedom in making art that can create personal connections with people who share his passion for life. He is an abstract expressionist influenced by world cultures, rhythms of music, and emotions of dance. His mixed media paintings are bright and colorful works that include three dimensional objects, plexiglas, yarn, ebony wood and deep layers. Liggins soulful work connects with the viewer and exudes a particular passion that can be felt by kindred spirits.

Anthony Liggins Statement

"ART IS LOVE, LOVE IS AN ART." -- Anthony Liggins

As my journey continues to take people on a visual expression through art, I long to captivate, motivate, and inspire others. One transcends on a spiritual oasis in time through color, technique, and visually stimulating ions. I use objects in my work such as: chop sticks, yarns, and pressed dots. The chopsticks represent life and nourishment. The differing colors in the yarns used represent the connecting of all cultures, reminding us of the diversity in all. The multicolor pattern process of irregular dots, pressed onto canvas, gives an illusion of a movement of dots on canvas. This illusion represents the complexity within each individual. I am a messenger; I want my work to bring enlightenment and passion, which can only be felt if one has experienced inner spirituality. The cycle of sacred language is accomplished through desire; it is a desire to be, a desire that changes within each individual’s perception. This cycle speaks in everlasting words to touch the soul and to give the world something to behold.
