Giuseppe Palumbo Biography

(American, b. 1958)

Giuseppe Palumbo's figurative bronze sculptures are textural, warm, spirited works that capture the essence of each being he portrays. Palumbo studied in Italy, Mexico, Loveland, CA, Scottsdale, AZ, and the Art Students League in Denver, CO. He maintains studios in Sausalito, CA and Eldorado Springs, CO and his work has been exhibited in many important shows throughout the US and can be found in several prominent collections.

Giuseppe Palumbo Statement

My work is figurative, the objective is not to create a replica of the living, but to capture the essence of a being, not a frozen pose, but a sculpture alive in texture, spirit and warmth. My objective is to communicate in a language that words don’t convey. If my work moves the viewer, stirs their soul, is a reflection of our times or pleases the aesthetic then I have achieved my goal. My chapter in the story of the sculpture is short, once finished with the piece it then becomes an endless tale as each viewer relives and creates their own story.

As the son of a professional artist from Italy, I have always been drawn to creating. Prior to sculpting fulltime I was involved in many architectural and building projects. Recently I have added furniture design to my interests. I view these mediums as being interconnected in the world of aesthetics and function.
