Artists Info - Bryan Rubino - CODA Gallery

American, b. 1958

Bryan Rubino began blowing glass in January of 1983 for a small Seattle glass company. In 1984 he was introduced to the Venetian style of glass working. Bryan began working with other young glass blowers that had also been inspired by the style. In 1987, he received a scholarship to attend a class at the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. The class, which combined technique and design also, focused on the Venetian style of glass blowing.

After Pilchuck, Bryan was asked to work as the Master Craftsmen in residence at the school, continuing to do so one or two sessions a year from 1988 through 1992. Working with Artists from the United States and Maestro’s from abroad provided him the opportunity to develop his own style, applying many old traditional and more modern approaches.

In the years from 1988 through 2003, Bryan worked frequently with Dale Chihuly and his architects on a number of large projects. In 2001 Bryan had already relocated to Olympia and started his own Glass Studio on Highway 101 near Shelton.

When Bryan is not working on commissions, or for other Artists, he makes unique pieces for his company Rubino Glass distributing to galleries all over the world.
