A native of Denmark, Ms. Darni studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. For seven years, Ms. Darni was a designer for Royal Copenhagen Porcelain, an experience which has impacted her latest venture: one of a kind, reverse hand-painted shades.
Ms. Darni is a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Pen & Brush Club of New York City. She is also profiled in Who's Who in the East.
A frequent award winner, she has received Silver and Bronze awards for her still-lifes, several "Best in Show" awards, Achievement awards, 1989 Memorial Award at the Salmagundi Club and the 1989 First Prize at the Pen & Brush. The prize was a two-week solo exhibition in Manhattan, where, in January of 1992 she showed her magnificent "One of a Kind Reverse Hand Painted Lamps".
Ms. Darni's work is included in some of the finest collections, including that of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Stubbs, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Atlantic Capital Corporation; Her Royal Highness Princess Benedict of Denmark, and the Municipal art Collection of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Her work has been televised and Ms. Darni was profiled in several painting of Catalaya Orchids entitled "Triple Reflections" was a finalist among 6500 entries in "The Artist" magazine's national flower competition.
Ms. Darni has exhibited at the Bronx Museum, Lever House Gallery, Salmagundi Club, the Pen & Brush Club, the Empire State Plaza, the Ann Leonard Gallery and many other fine galleries with her work on Canvas.
Today, 99% of her energy is focused on painting on glass. In a private showing in Tokyo, "Ulla" lamps and the watercolors of His Royal Highness, Charles, Prince of Wales, were exhibited in private showings throughout November 1991, where two of her lamps brought $23,000 each. "Ulla" lamps are exhibited and old in many prestigious galleries in New York, Aspen, Beverly Hills, Miami, Seattle, Hawaii and other major cities throughout the country as well as in Europe and Japan. Her lamps are on permanent display in the Yamaha Museum in Tokyo.
