CODA Gallery is pleased to present "The Beauty of Simplicity," an exhibition of new paintings by celebrated artist, Jamie Perry. Come meet Jamie at an artist reception on Friday, February 7, 4 - 7 pm, during El Paseo's Art Walk on First Friday. Enjoy a wine bar featuring organic wines and other beverages, benefiting Angel View, a Coachella Valley nonprofit dedicated to serving children and adults with disabilities. A portion of the evening’s art sales will be donated to support Angel View, founded in 1954 at a natural hot mineral water spring in Desert Hot Springs.
Jamie Perry’s art invites viewers into a world where minimalism meets nostalgia, where quiet moments unfold in vast landscapes, and where everyday scenes are transformed into profound reflections of time, space, and human connection. Drawing inspiration from Edward Hopper, Maynard Dixon, and Andrew Wyeth, Jamie distills his compositions down to their purest forms—letting light, shadow, and space do the storytelling.
His figurative works often feature faceless, suited figures, sometimes accompanied by his French bulldog, Ace, set against both Midwestern landscapes and Palm Springs’ modernist backdrops. These figures—standing before an open road, gazing at a painting, or caught in midair—invite the viewer to step into their shoes, to find meaning in their solitude, humor, or contemplation.
Equally striking are Perry’s landscapes, where barns, billboards, and endless highways symbolize the icons of Americana. His work, born from observation and imagination, turns fleeting roadside glimpses into enduring visual poetry. Whether capturing the simplicity of a lone farmhouse or the absurdity of a belly-flopping diver, Perry’s art is both thought-provoking and delightfully whimsical.
From his early years in commercial illustration and Hollywood stunt work to his current role as a full-time artist, Perry’s journey is as compelling as his paintings. In "The Beauty of Simplicity," he offers a collection that reminds us of the power of restraint—the ability to say more with less, to evoke emotion through space, and to find meaning in the quiet corners of life.
“My aim is to create work that evokes sentimental feelings in the viewer
and transports them to a place where life is simple and unobstructed.” – Jamie Perry
