Healing through Creativity
April 19, Friday, 4-6 pm

Howard S. Clark was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and still calls it home.  During his career as the co-owner of Clark Leaming Designs and working in real estate, Howard struggled with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for many years.  It took a five-minute meeting with a doctor at the University of Utah’s Neuropsychiatric Institute to find the solution: be creative.  Howard took to painting, and 30 years later his treatment has become a life long passion.

Howard Clark was awarded “Best of Show” in 1998, received two awards of merit in 1997, and was honored with a juror’s selection in 1997, all from the Utah Water Color Society.  His work is included in the permanent collections at Salt Lake County Art Collection, University of Utah’s Gardner Music Hall, Liberty Senior Center, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Huntsman Chemical Corporation, Chevron, the law offices of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy and McKay, Burton & Thurman, Salt Lake Country Club, Hidden Valley Country Club and the David Eccles School of Business.  Howard has also shared his love of art with the community, serving as chairman of the University of Utah College of Fine Arts advisory board and by using his art as a vehicle for philanthropy by raising money for organizations like the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
