"Globe Rooster" by James Corbett
This guy gets his name from the part used neck. It represents the way roosters flare out their neck feathers when they are being a bit bossy. That piece is the cup part of a very early 1900’s perpetual cycling trophy. The Globe Cup. I think it was a pretty big deal, I was able to find old newspaper stories about it and the riders who had won it.
Globe was a furniture company. It is an example of how the parts I use have had a whole other life. This piece was proudly made, fought over on the track, presented to several proud cyclists, who as young men of the era, probably went off to the Great War. I found it damaged, thrown on a rubbish pile.
