Donalie's sculptures are an abstract portrayal of the smooth energy of flowing water and the coarse strength of earth's elements. She has combined the vitreous properties of fractured plate glass with copper, bronze and steel to convey the light and power of nature.
Personal challenges and triumphs over the past 23 years have been the catalysts for Donalie's artistic transitions from fiber sculptures to contemporary glass art, to the abstract glass and metal sculptures she now creates.
"The experience of raising my two daughters alone has taught me much about my own inner spirit and values. Alison and Keri and I have "grown up" together and realized that life is filled with opportunities. The girls also inherited a passion for life and adventure from their father that continues to inspire me to never settle for the ordinary."
Donalie's sculptures reflect this journey to discover and rediscover herself through her experiences. "The universe constantly offers gifts if only we open our eyes, ears, and hearts to the Source. I also believe there are no accidents, and that life is filled with synchronicities. In times of confusion and frustration, I pour myself into my sculptures and come away with a deeper understanding of the magic and energy of life."
Nature is the great healer. Donalie's sculptures spring from her desire to share some of that tranquillity, insight and understanding with the viewer.
